Reggae star, Yellow Banton undergoes blood transfusion as he continues his battle with skin cancer(photos)

Front-line Nigerian reggae star, Uti Kennedy Nduka popularly called Yellow Banton, is currently lying critically ill in the hospital after he underwent a blood transfusion last weekend.

Banton who is currently battling with Basal Cell Carinoma,BCC, an aggressive skin cancer, had his first surgery recently and in the process lost a lot of blood. His colleague, Baba Fryo who has been following his case, wrote

”We give glory to the almighty God!!! Yellow Banton had a successful blood transfusion and is now stabilised. It was a close one and we almost lost him. We can’t stop saying thank you lord! Yellow Banton, who’s best known in the late 90’s and early millennium with his style of infusing pidgin language into reggae, has been  battling the deadly disease for about eight years.

In a recent interview, the singer says his wife left him seven years ago when the disease started and that his greatest fear his dying and leaving his children fatherless. He also added that his colleagues have since stopped inviting him for shows because they can’t stand the sight of the injuries the disease has inflicted on him.
