Brit passenger, 30, dies after falling from plane onto runway after ‘fight with cabin crew’ at Turkish airport

A British passenger died after falling from a passenger jet on to a runway in Turkey yesterday. It has now emerged that he was “arguing with cabin crew” when it happened.

30-year-old Andrew Paul Westlake was being escorted off the plane following the argument when he fell from an exit to the concrete 15ft below.

At first, local media reported Andrew’s death was a suicide. Others claimed he may have been trying to get away from officials when he fell. But details of what happened emerged today.

After boarding a flight at around 3am, Andrew is said to have become involved in an argument with cabin crew and escorted from the flight, the Hurriyet newspaper reported. It is thought he plummeted from a jetty linking the plane to the terminal and landed on the tarmac at Dalaman Airport on Tuesday.
