British tourist plunged to his death and killed a local man on the ground after falling from 7th floor of Marbella hotel in Spain

A British tourist has plunged to his death, killing a local man on the ground after falling from the seventh floor of a Marbella hotel in Spain.

The double tragedy occurred at 1.45am this morning July 11th at the five-star Melia Don Pepe Hotel in Marbella.

The tourist said to be in his 50s plummetted from the balcony of the hotel, killing the 43-year-old Spanish victim as he enjoyed a late-night drink on the terrace below. The two men died instantly.

According to local reports, the Brit had been on holiday with his family after Brits were allowed to travel to Spain following the country’s lockdown easing.

A source said: “The man who jumped or fell is a British man aged around 50.

“The man who was enjoying a drink on the hotel terrace below him is a 43-year-old Spaniard.”

Authorities are now trying to establish if the holidaymaker jumped or fell by accident from the seventh floor.

A spokesman for the National Police in Malaga said: “I can confirm two men have died at a hotel in Marbella after one plunged from the seventh-floor and landed on top of another.

“We are investigating.”

A Foreign & Commonwealth Office spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British man following his death in Spain and are in touch with the local police.”
