Disrespecting a governor is not a criminal offence – Apostle Suleman questions Sanusi’s detainment after being dethroned

Apostle Johnson Suleman has reacted to the dethronement and banishment of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Recall Emir Sanusi’s removal was confirmed on Monday March 9 by Secretary to Kano State Government, Usman Alhaji who alleged that he (Sanusi) disrespected the lawful instructions from the office of the Governor and lawful authorities. The Kano monarch was also accused of persistently refusing to attend official meetings and programmes organized by the government without any lawful justification.

Following the removal of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Governor Ganduje appointed one of the sons of late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, Aminu Ado Bayero as the 15th Fulani Emir of the state.

Reacting to the development, Apostle Johnson Suleman stated that disrespecting a Governor is not a criminal offence. The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries who however admitted that a Governor has the right to depose a traditional ruler, stated that a Governor does not have the right to detain anyone who has not committed an offence.

Suleman tweeted;

I can understand the dethronment of the former emir of kano.what I dont understand is the detention.over what?a governor has right to depose a traditional ruler but has no right to detain anyone who has not committed an offence.disrespecting a governor is not a criminal offence.
