Donald Trump has confirmed many people are in police custody and says he is seeking help in identifying 15 other suspects for the vandalization of Federal Property in Lafayette Park.

On Friday, the US president posted an image on Twitter showing the suspects U.S. Park Police believe vandalized an Andrew Jackson statue in Washington’s Lafayette Square area on Monday.

He wrote alongside the image: ‘MANY people in custody, with many others being sought for Vandalization of Federal Property in Lafayette Park. 10-year prison sentences!’

he Black Lives Matter protesters tried to bring down a statue of Andrew Jackson outside the White House amid protests sparked by the death of George Floyd, a Black man who died in Minneapolis police custody on May 25.

The Park Police and FBI are searching for the 15 suspects.

This comes three days after President Trump authorised the Federal Government to arrest anyone who vandalises statues and warned that any culprit who commits the act faces up to 10 years in prison, amid Black Lives Matter protests in the US.
