FBI investigating Jeffrey Epstein’s suicide in prison amid suspicion surrounding his death

An investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged suicide has been launched by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

LIB reported earlier that the disgraced billionaire financier who allegedly hanged himself overnight was found unresponsive in his cell on Saturday August 10, before being transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Serving an update on the speculated suicide, the U.S. Bureau of Prisons said in a statement released on Saturday that the FBI will be investigating the incident. His death came a day after court documents revealed that he was accused in 2016 of sending an underage girl to meet and have sex with two former politicians as part of his alleged sex ring.

Though the FBI does not investigate suicides at federal prison facility, officials said an “abundance of caution” to uncover the myth surrounding the billionaire’s death would be taken. While law enforcement officers indicated Epstein had killed himself, the New York City Chief Medical Examiner is yet to make an official ruling on the cause of death. His death marks the end of a sex trafficking case against him, as no one else was charged in the indictment.
