FBI seeks help in identifying people who stormed the US Capitol

The FBI is now looking for information that will help agents identify people who stormed the U.S. Capitol building following a day of pro-Trump demonstrations in Washington D.C.

The agency asked for “tips and digital media depicting rioting and violence in the U.S. Capitol building and surrounding area.”

The FBI said in a statement; 

The FBI is seeking information that will assist in identifying individuals who are actively instigating violence in Washington, D.C. The FBI is accepting tips and digital media depicting rioting and violence in the U.S. Capitol Building and surrounding area in Washington, D.C., on January 6, 2021.

If you have witnessed unlawful violent actions, we urge you to submit any information, photos, or videos that could be relevant at fbi.gov/USCapitol.

Please use this form to submit any images, videos, or other multimedia files you have related to possible violations of federal law committed. Our goal is to preserve the public’s constitutional right to protest by protecting everyone from violence and other criminal activity.

It took officials four hours to finally secure the U.S. Capitol complex after supporters of President Donald Trump made their way inside. One woman was shot inside the building; acting Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department Robert J. Contee III said in a late-night press conference that it was a U.S. Capitol Police officer who fired the shot. Three other people also reportedly died but their deaths were related to unspecified “individual medical emergencies”.
