EndSARS: Lagos CP Odumosu forced to take 10km trek by protesters

– Lagos CP, Hakeem Odumosu, was on Monday forced to alight from his cars by angry EndSARS protesters at Okota – Odumosu was paying a visit to a 68-year-old woman assaulted by police officers when his vehicles were stopped – The CP and subjects were forced to take over 10-kilometre trek as the protesters barricaded the NNPC junction at Okota

The ongoing EndSARS protest has put a peg on many activities across cities where the demonstrations are daily getting momentum and in what sounded amusing, Lagos state police commissioner Hakeem Odumosu, was also a victim. CP Odumosu was said to have on Monday, October 19, visited the home of a 68-year-old woman assaulted by a police officer during the protest.

He was, however, forced to result to trekking as the anti-police brutality protesters at Okota area in Lagos state aggressively prevented his cars and that of the force senior officers from moving.

According to an account given by the Lagos police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, CP Odumosu trekked for more than 10 kilometres in the company of his colleagues. He added that they were forced to take an alternative route in Okota only to meet the EndSARS protesters who barricaded the NNPC junction, insisting that the police chief must eat a humble pie by alighting from his car. The spokesperson added that CP Odumosu wisely managed the “harassments, intimidations and provocations from the protesters and obliged and trekked for peace to reign.” In his words: “The commissioner of police, who had earlier been denied access at the Murtala Mohammed Airport toll gate in Ikeja by Endsars protesters, ran into a similar barricade at NNPC junction, Okota, where the hyper-aggressive protesters insisted that CP Hakeem Odumosu and team alight from their official cars and trek that long-distance despite series of explanation and appeal on the command’s mission in the area.”
