Thandie Newton swears during acceptance speech, says she doesn’t believe in God, then refers to him in the feminine form

Thandie Newton’s acceptance speech after being announced as the winner for Outstanding Supporting Actress at this year’s Emmy Awards was an emotional one.

The Westworld actress dropped the F-bomb at some point during her speech, thanked God while adding that she doesn’t believe in “her” and wished a happy birthday to her daughter who turned 18 same day.

She began:

I don’t even believe in God but I’m going to thank her tonight.

I am so blessed. I am so f***ing blessed…

To work with the people that I have gotten to work with. The cast and crew of – I can’t believe I’m here – the cast and crew of Westworld, I love you all so much.

She continued:

My family, my daughter Ripley turns 18 today and I get to guide you and love you and protect you, which is my north star, I love you so much baby.

Thank you, thank you for this.
