UN Watch’s choice of words in announcing the re-election of Museveni as Uganda’s President elicits reactions from Ugandans

UN Watch announced Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s re-election with an interesting choice of words that elicited reactions from Ugandans.

During the election, the opposition Bobi Wine and other Ugandans had alleged voter suppression and silencing of the opposition.

After Museveni was announced as the winner again, making this his 6th presidential term, having served as President of Uganda since 1986, UN Watch took to Twitter to make the announcement.

“Congratulations to Uganda President Yoweri Museveni on winning re-election after murdering, imprisoning & silencing opponents, shutting down the internet, and committing widespread voter fraud,” UN Watch wrote.

Ugandans took to the comment to react and, surprisingly, a good number of commenters defended Museveni and asked UN Watch to mind their business.
