Angry mob beat notorious burglar to death for killing homeowner

The Liberia National Police has begun a full-scale investigation into the alleged mob action that led to the death of a 22-year-old suspected burglar identified as Milton Kollie, a resident of Kortu quarter, Gbarnga City, Bong County.

It was gathered that on Thursday, September, 18, Milton Kollie, one of the alleged notorious burglars broke into the home of victim Henry G. Kennedy at about 4: 00 AM.

Accordingly, a scuffle ensued between the alleged burglar and the victim which resulted to the victim being stabbed on the right side of his stomach, he was immediate rushed to the Phebe Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police preliminary probe further revealed that the suspect Milton Kollie after stabbing to death victim Henry G. Kennedy tried escaping the scene, when he was over powered by community members and allegedly beaten by angry mob that also resulted to his death.

“The LNP has condemned the mob action perpetrated by unidentified group of people who took the laws into their hands that resulted to the death of an alleged criminal who should have had his day in Court until proven by a Court of competent jurisdiction,” a police statement reads.

“The LNP has launched a manhunt to ensure that all those who perpetrated such act are made to face the full weight of the law.

Meanwhile, the public is hereby warned to desist from mob actions and other forms of violence and use the legal means to seek redress. The LNP will not relent to arrest and appropriately charge and forward to Court anyone or group of people engaging into lawlessness.”
